Securing cargo has been a remarkably conventional business until recent years.

Current methods of locking containers persist in the following imperfections:

• Locks are positioned on the outside of the container
• Physical keys are required hence international transport and intermediate access troublesome
• Containers can still be opened without tampering with the actual lock
• Seals, like twist cables and bullet seals can be copied or broken with little effort which will encourage pilferage
• E-seals do not use universal frequency or standard software code and platforms
• RFID is a method still in development and requires very costly infrastructure with long time to deployment

A lot of new initiatives seem to be driven "top down" or mostly technology driven.
RFID might be an interesting add-on; however (delayed) intrusion detection is the answer. Active RFID seals are costly to produce, difficult to implement because of the excess in infrastructure, software and protocols used.

 

 

The ZOCA Container Security Service (world wide patent applies) consists of four major components which set it aside from any currently available solution:

• A strong mechanical lock is situated inside the container doors
• The lock can only be operated with a ZOCA Mobile Device
• Both the container lock and the ZOCA Mobile Device can only be operated in a pre determined Geo Fenced Area  
• All transactions are monitored and managed by a central Global Processing Centre which operates on a 24/7 basis including customer care facilities and technical assistance
